The Capture ProcessThis chapter, even more so than Chapter 2, is an exercise in using your imagination. Why? Because the video you capture from your projects on your system won't match the illustrations in this book. So it's hard to write a step-by-step tutorial unless I ship you the same videotape I'm using to create this chapter.Sadly, I can't ship a videotape with each copy of the book, because it doesn't fit in the binding. So, I'll just show you how to capture and make sure you understand how the whole process works. Here are the basic steps:
Chapter 1, "Get Organized," got you organized, with a naming and filing system you can use in real life.Chapter 2, "Understanding the Final Cut Pro Interface," gave you an orientation to the Final Cut interface, so you can find your way around the application. Now, the next step is to get Final Cut ready to capture media. The good news is that Final Cut is automatically configured during installation to work with DV video. So, if DV is your medium, you don't need to do a lot more to prepare. ![]() |
