Creating standard movie, image sequence and audio files: Lesson 17-3
You can export a clip, an entire sequence or a portion of a sequence as an audio/video, audio-only or video-only file, or as a sequence of still image files. You can use those image sequences in animation programs or apply graphic elements to them (a process called rotoscoping) in programs like Photoshop and Illustrator.
Adobe Certified Expert exam objectiveExplain how to use the options available from the Export Movie Settings dialog box when exporting a movie. |
- To export an entire sequence, select the sequence in the Timeline or Program Monitor.
- To export a segment of a sequence, place the ends of the Timeline Work Area Bar at the beginning and end of that segment.
- To export a clip, select the clip in the Source Monitor or Project panel and click in the appropriate panel to make it active. To specify a range of frames within the clip to export set an In point and Out point in the Source Monitor.
NoteTo see most of the compressors available for video files, choose QuickTime as the file type. QuickTime has more than 20 codecs (compression/decompression algorithms) associated with it. Each video and audio compressor has attributes that work best under certain circumstances. For more background on compression, read the DV Compression Primer on this book's companion DVD. Export audio only
You can use the Export Movie settings dialog box to create audio-only files by un-checking Export Video in the Export Movie Settings General Submenu. But it's more intuitive to use the Audio Export command.
NoteIf you want to create a 5.1 Surround Sound file, make that selection in the Audio Submenu > Channels drop-down list. QuickTime does not have a 5.1 option.
