Controlling the Logon Process
Logging On and Logging Off" in Chapter 1, Windows gives you two ways to log on (if you're not on a domain):The Welcome screen (refer to Figure 1.1) is the easiest and fastest way to log on. You simply click your name and type your password (if you have one). The classic logon prompt (see Figure 16.4 later in this chapter) is a more secure, less convenient method. You must type your user name and, if necessary, your password.
You can turn on Fast User Switching (described in Chapter 1) if:The Welcome screen is turned on.

To control how users log on:
1. Choose Start > Control Panel > User Accounts.2. Click Change the Way Users Log On or Off (visible in Figure 16.1).3. Select the logon options; then click Apply Options (Figure 16.12 ).
Figure 16.12. Check the first option for the Welcome screen; uncheck it for the classic logon prompt. Check the second option to let more than one user be logged on at the same time. These options are related; unchecking the first turns off the second automatically.

Figure 16.10). Click the Advanced tab; check Require Users to Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete; then click OK. From now on, users are greeted with Figure 16.13.
Figure 16.13. Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete temporarily halts any other programs running on your PC, guaranteeing an authentic logon prompt. (For this to work, the Welcome screen must be turned off in Figure 16.12.)
