Registering Windows. Registration is not the same thing as activation and is optional, so click No unless you want junk email.

Setting up the first five user accounts (but not their passwords), if they aren't already set up.

If you upgraded from Windows 98/Me, XP imported existing accounts as Administrators and erased their passwords.

To plug these security holes, add passwords immediately after you finish the wizard. See "Setting up User Accounts" in Chapter 16.

When you're done, Windows greets you with the desktop and Welcome screen. Windows XP is ready to use.
