Unwrap UVW ImprovementsIn addition to the ability to display the texture seam within the Edit window of the Unwrap UVW modifier, there are a few more new improvements to help you work with UVW mapping. Let's touch on them briefly. Absolute/Offset ModeThe Absolute/Offset Mode toggle works like the one in the standard interface when moving objects or sub-objects. When it is toggled off, values typed into the U, V, and W fields position the selection exactly at the number specified in relation to the map. When it is toggled on, the selection moves Offset to its previous position according to the offset amounts that you enter into the U, V, and W fields (Figure 3.4). Figure 3.4. The new Absolute/Offset Mode toggle is located to the left of the Transform Type-In. The new Paint Selection mode is located to the right. Green Texture Seam lines display on the Deviled Egg after the mapping has been flattened.[View full size image] ![]() Paint Select ModePaint Select mode, which is similar to painting a selection in the standard interface, lets you paint a sub-object selection in the Edit UVWs window. Use the plus and minus buttons to the right of the Paint Select Mode button (which looks like a paintbrush) to change the size of the selection brush. To exit the Paint Select mode, right-click in the Edit UVWs window, or activate the Move, Rotate, or Scale tool (Figure 3.4). Edge LoopWith Edge Loop, you can now get a loop selection in the Edit UVWs window (Figure 3.5). This is similar to expanding an Edge loop in Editable Poly. Figure 3.5. Using Edge Loop: Select a white edge, and then click the Edge Loop button. This works like Edge Loop from Editable Poly.![]() |
