Summing Up Lighting in computer graphics allows the artist to focus the viewer's attention on or away from key elements in a scene. We can change a mood or evoke an emotion by changing the lights' locations, colors, and intensities. Shadows help us tie objects together and help the viewer understand the types of lights and and their origins. Quality lighting techniques can take a lot of practice to achieve, but invest the time and you'll be rewarded with artwork that, teamed with good modeling and texturing, brings your scenes truly to life.In the next chapter we'll take a look at CG lighting as it applies to film and video, and we'll also explore lighting in the game industry. |
