Using a Mac to Access ODBC Data
The Mac is definitely a second-class citizen in the FileMaker ODBC world, at least in version 7. Not only can't you use a Mac-based FileMaker file as an ODBC source, but the FileMaker version for the Mac OS does not preinstall any ODBC drivers. If you want to use your Mac to access SQL database data, you'll need to install and configure the ODBC drivers you need.
To install and configure ODBC drivers on a Mac
1 .Navigate to the ODBC Import Drivers Installer inside Applications> FileMaker Pro 7 > ODBC Import Drivers. Double-click to launch the installer. The Mac OS will ask you for your password to proceed.2 .When the installer window opens, click Install (Figure 13.13). Click Quit to finish.
