Security Settings for Converted Files
When a file is converted into FileMaker 7, the security settings are updated to the new security model. Passwords are converted to use the existing password as both the account name and the password. Groups are converted to Privilege Sets. After conversion, you should edit the security settings. See Chapter 16, "Multiuser Files on a Network" for a thorough explanation of how to create and edit security settings. The following section discusses security areas of particular concern in a converted database.
Passwords
Unlike previous versions, passwords in FileMaker 7 are case sensitive. If a converted file had no passwords, the new file will have only the default Admin and Guest accounts. Guest is disabled by default. If the old file had an account set to No Password, the Guest account will be enabled in the converted file.Old passwords with Full Access will be assigned the Full Access Privilege Set in the converted file.If the old file was set to Try Default Password, the converted file will be set to Log In using in the File Options.
Groups
If two or more groups had identical settings, only one Privilege Set will be created.Groups with no password are not converted to Privilege Sets. The extended Privilege Sets for Instant Web Publishing, ODBC/JDBC, and FileMaker Mobile are disabled by default in converted files, even if they were enabled in the previous version. They can be reenabled manually.
