Accessing a Database with a Browser


Once you've set up IWP, your databases are available and accessible to anyone with Internet access. All that's necessary is a basic understanding of how to use a Web browser.

To access a database with a browser



1 .In your Web browser's address box, type the IP address of the computer that's hosting the databases (Figure 17.3). Press Enter.

For this example, we're using an intranet with an IP address. If your database is published using a domain name, users can enter the URL (http://domainname.com).

2 .The FileMaker home page will appear (Figure 17.4).

3 .Click any of the links displayed to access a database (Figure 17.5).

4 .If the hosted databases are password-protected and guest access is not enabled, you'll be prompted for a user name and password (Figure 17.6).
