About IWP
FileMaker's IWP in version 7 is an enormous improvement over its implementation in version 6. A published Web database is an almost perfect replica of the original as displayed in the application, in look, feel, and function. To get started with IWP, the requirements are minor: an Internet provider or a company intranet. The computer you host the IWP data bases on should always be on, always running FileMaker Pro, and always con nected, so your Internet access should not be through dial-up or other intermittent connections. You'll need to ask your provider for a static IP addressone that never changes, even if you turn your computer offthat you can distribute as the database URL. If you manage your own LAN and users will access the FileMaker host from outside it, you'll need to program your router to direct Web traffic to the host.In addition, you'll need to be running a compatible browser to be able to check your IWP files. On Windows, that means Internet Explorer 6 or later. On the Mac running OS X 10.2.8, you'll need Internet Explorer 5.1 or later. On an OS X 10.3.x system, the preferred browser is Safari 1.1 or later. Check the FileMaker Web site for updates on compatible browsers. As of this writing, Firefox is not listed as a compatible option for either platform.
