14.9 CONTROL MESSAGES WITH MESSAGE CORRELATION


Message keys correlation is another message management feature, as shown in Figure 14-24. This is configured within the template. The message attributes are analyzed, and if the same message already exists within the browser, it is acknowledged and replace by a successor with similar attributes. The message key can contain fixed text and variables. For example, the disk monitor shown in Figure 14-27 could have a message key automatically generated, as shown in Figure 14-28, for all the conditions for the disk utilization threshold monitor.

The message key is used to match the message with the same attributes and acknowledge it automatically. This has the advantage of reducing the number of messages in the browser. Another advantage is that the messages in the browser will always show the most current state of the monitored threshold. The message browser is considered state-based when used in conjunction with the message correlation feature.
