Chapter 10. Customer Views NNM does an excellent job of monitoring and displaying the health of the network enterprise. It provides a view of the physical network connectivity of an enterprise. However, it does not provide a logical view of the network because it has no way of determining the logical relationships that exist within a given enterprise. Although customization exists within NNM, Customer Views (CV) extends the capabilities of NNM by allowing the administrator to define a logical hierarchy comprised of five additional views. With CV, you can define which resources affect which customers. Internet Service Providers, Managed Service Providers, and outsourcers commonly use it for customer-based management. With the use of CV, a managed service provider is able to provide each customer with restricted access to their data by grouping together each customer's devices in a separate hierarchy. This chapter covers the concepts behind CV and describes the utilities used in configuring the environment. |
