19.10 SUMMARY In larger environments, multiple management servers become essential. The advantages include minimized use of network bandwidth for message transmission between the agents and servers, configuration of nodes within a specific region to report to a regional server, message forwarding and configuration control between multiple servers. This chapter provided configuration details and many examples of how to accomplish multiple management server scenarios. There are some concepts that were not covered, such as the outage scenario which describes the criteria for scheduled maintenance, unscheduled downtime, and service hours based on service level agreements (SLAs). Refer to the HP OpenView Operations Concepts Guide for more information. In the next chapter we take a high level look at many security concepts that are related to OpenView. |
