21.5 SUMMARY
The OpenView Operations architecture and processes should be well planned and documented. Accurate documentation including network architecture, supported platforms, monitored applications, nodes, node groups, and template assignment should be kept in order to make the OVO implementation successful. OVO documentation should evolve with the project.Corrective actions can be included in message source templates in order to return the application to its normal state. Corrective actions can be achieved automatic or manual. Corrective actions may include restarting processes, sending email, or linking to an external notification system.Changes in the OVO environment include adding templates and template conditions, rewriting scripts that are executed by templates, adding nodes to the node bank, and adding operators. Administering changes include acting on OVO messages, updating the OVO environment, and updating documentation. Changes are made by the OVO administrator and template administrator. |
