17.7 HISTORY DOWNLOAD

The information stored inside the history messages tables in the database will grow without bounds. In other words, it will grow until the database tablespace can no longer be extended because no space is left on the filesystem for automatic extent allocation. In order to avoid this situation or to simply perform housecleaning on the tables, the history download utility is available. Use the command

opchistdwn to download the configuration periodically. The command

opchistupl restores the records from a prior

opchistdwn .

17.7.1 What Is the Process to Download the History Information?

Working from inside the Administrator GUI, select

ActionsUtilitiesDatabase Maintenance . Figure 17-6 shows the fields that you can fill in to instruct the system and to download the data from the history tables (the section marked History Log). The information can be downloaded on a regular schedule if you provide the time, day, and directory information. You also specify how much data to download. You enter your choice of records; for example, older than 1 day, 1 week, or 30 days. Here we mean extract, because the records are removed from the database tables.
