Document GridThe document grid supplements margin and column guides and creates a grid across the entire documentlike an enormous piece of graph paper. The grid makes it possible to align elements vertically and horizontally without having to build individual ruler guides. Some folks find the document grid to be too obtrusive and prefer to stick with ruler guides (see Chapter 34), but others just love the full-page grid. You can set up the document grid by opening the Preferences dialog box and selecting Grids. In the Document Grid section, you can set the grid color, the measure between each horizontal and vertical gridline, and the subdivisions between the gridlines. Then, to make the document grid visible or invisible, select Show/Hide Document Grid from the View menu (or press Command-'/Ctrl-'). You can turn on and off whether objects snap to the grid by selecting or unselecting Snap to Document Grid from the View menu (or press Command-Shift-'/Ctrl-Shift-'). |
