Releasing Holes

When you want to break a compound path back into its component objects, choose it with the Selection tool, then choose Release from the Compound Paths submenu (under the Object menu). Each of the resulting paths will have the same attributes; they won't return to their original appearance (see Figure 16-4). After the shape we created is released, the three paths take on the attributes of the compound path.
