Typographers' Quotes Both QuarkXPress and InDesign have preferences that control the appearance of single and double quotation marks in text. By default, InDesign converts quotes to typographers' ("curly") quotes, but you can turn this off in the Text panel of the Preferences dialog box. Or, in the Dictionary Preferences panel, you can choose the appearance of single and double quotes for each of the languages which you have installed. You can also toggle this option (turning it on and off) by pressing Command-Option-Shift-'/Ctrl-Alt-Shift-' (quote).Quotation marks are also converted to typographer's quotes when text is imported with the Place command. To turn this off, uncheck the Convert Quotes option in the Place dialog box.
