Importing TablesUnlike QuarkXPress, InDesign also allows you to import tables created in Microsoft Word and spreadsheets created in Microsoft Exceljust place the file as you would any other text file. You can also copy and paste from Word and Excel documents.InDesign retains as much formatting from the Word or Excel table as its import filter will allow. However, you can always reformat it in InDesign using the methods we describe in the following chapters. Also, InDesign retains a link to the Word or Excel file in the Links palette. As we describe in Chapter 39, it's usually wise to choose Unlink from the Links palette menu to remove the link to the external file. |
