Selecting Multiple Objects When selecting multiple objects, InDesign works almost identically to QuarkXPress. If you're working with the Selection tool, you can select more than one frame or path by Shift-clicking; you'll see the bounding boxes of each selected object. If you're working with the Direct Selection tool, you can Shift-click to choose more than one anchor point in frames and paths. With either tool, to deselect an object or anchor point, just Shift-click again.Dragging a marquee in InDesign also works similar to XPress. With the Selection tool, the marquee rectangle selects any objects whose shape falls within the marqueed area, no matter how little they are included. Marqueeing with the Direct Selection tool chooses any anchor points within the selection rectangle.Lastly, you can select all of the objects on a page or spread by choosing Select All from the Edit menu (Command-A/Ctrl-A). InDesign also has a handy deselect commandDeselect All from the same menu (Command-Shift-A/Ctrl-Shift-A). We use Deselect All very frequently, such as before creating a new color in the Colors palette (so that the new color won't be applied to any accidentally-selected objects).
