Controlling Text Wrap
In QuarkXPress, runaround can only be applied when the text is below the runaround object (in the stacking order). In InDesign, text wrap operates whether the wrap object is above or below the text. This can really mess up a new user, as text starts disappearing for "no reason." Unfortunately, text wrap also even operates when the wrap object is on a hidden layer. When you need to prevent text from wrapping around an object with a text wrap, select the text frame, choose Text Frame Options from the Object menu (or press Command-B/Ctrl-B), and turn on the Ignore Text Wrap option. Two other differences between QuarkXPress and InDesign: In XPress, text normally wraps on only one side of a graphic, and you have to choose a text box option to run on both sides. In InDesign, text always wraps on both sides of a graphic. Also, you can apply runaround to objects on a master page in XPress. For some silly reason InDesign doesn't let you do this (you can do it, but the wrap is ignored on your document pages).
