Editing Path TypeYou can use the Selection or Direct Selection tools to drag the path type handles, manipulating the position of the type along the path. (Be careful not to click the in port or out port.) You can also drag the center handle to finesse the positioning.Because path type is a special kind of text "frame," its position is also controlled by the settings on the Paragraph palette. For example, clicking the Center icon (or pressing Command-Shift-C/Ctrl-Shift-C) centers the type along the path between the start and end handles. You can also use tabs and indents to move text along a path, but manipulating the handles is usually easier. Threading TextIf not all your text fits on the path type frame, it gets overset. However, because path type has in and out ports, you can continue the text flow using InDesign's threading methods to create connections from one path to another, or between paths and regular text frames. Just use the Selection tool to click the in and out ports using the techniques we describe in Chapter 40. Deleting Path TypeIf you want to remove type from a path, select Delete Type from Path from the Type on a Path submenu (under the Type menu). This turns the path type "frame" into a regular path. If the path text is threaded, it will flow to another frame; if it is not, the text is deleted. |
