Applying Paragraph Styles To apply a paragraph style, you can place the text cursor in a paragraph and click on the name of the style within the Paragraph Styles palette, or you can press a keyboard shortcut to apply the style (if you've set one up). Unlike XPress, you can't apply a style from the main menu bar, but since that was the slowest of all methods, you're unlikely to miss it.With InDesign, you define keyboard shortcuts for styles using the Shortcut option in the General panel of the Modify Paragraph Style Options dialog box. The main difference between how InDesign and XPress use style shortcuts is that InDesign only lets you combine a number on the numeric keypad with one or more modifier keys (such as Shift); XPress lets you use function keys as well.
