Using Context Menus With Frames

You can make almost any sort of modification to selected picture and text frames using the context menus. When working with picture frames, remember to take care in what is selected; if you use the Direct Select tool, you may select the image rather than the picture frame.

Here are a few common tasks available from the context menu for frames (see Figure 5-3):

Figure 5-3. Use the context menu to save time applying borders or fitting graphics within a frame.

  • You can reduce or enlarge frame sizes with the Fit Frame to Content option. This works with both text and graphic frames.

  • Use the Fit Content to Frame to proportionally or disproportionally cause graphic content inside of a frame to enlarge or reduce to fit into the frame in which it resides.

  • You can set the stroke weight around a frame using context menus, including adding a stroke to an object that originally did not have one.

  • You can apply a drop shadow or feather to an object.
