Modifying Character and Paragraph StylesYou can edit an existing style by double-clicking it in the Paragraph Styles or Character Styles palette. Either the Modify Paragraph Style Options dialog box or the Modify Character Style Options dialog box appears (see Figure 57-1). Make the desired changes and click OK to save them. Figure 57-1. The Modify Style Options dialog box![]() However, be very careful when editing styles: When you double-click on the style's name, you apply that style to any text you have selected (even if you have only selected a text frame with the Selection tool). This can cause much grief, believe us. Fortunately, you can edit a style without affecting any text by holding down Command-Shift/Ctrl-Shift while double-clicking the style name. Or you can make sure nothing on your page is selected by choosing Deselect All from the Edit menu (or press Command-Shift-A/Ctrl-Shift-A). |
