Chapter 48. Hyphenation and JustificationHyphenation and justificationusually called "H&J" by those who love fine typographyare the controls (along with the dictionaries we talk about in Chapter 42) which your composition engine uses to decide how much text to fit on a line. We discuss composition in Chapter 46. In QuarkXPress, these settings are created and saved in the Edit Hyphenation and Justification dialog box. InDesign uses two separate features to control H&JJustification and Hyphenationwhich are found on the Paragraph palette's flyout menu. The two applications share similar settings, but InDesign adds a couple of new features to the process. |
