Chapter 63. Copying Objects To and From Adobe Illustrator While InDesign can place native Illustrator (.AI) files, you can also copy Illustrator objects directly into InDesign through dragging and dropping or copying and pasting. When you copy objects from Illustrator they usually remain fully editable in InDesign with some proper setup. In our tests, this also works with Macromedia FreeHand. Even more cool, you can copy InDesign objects and paste them into Adobe Illustrator (not FreeHand). None of this is possible in QuarkXPress.
