Chapter 65. Linking & Embedding Graphics
InDesign handles imported graphics similarly to QuarkXPress: By default, the program links to the image on disk rather than embedding the high-resolution data. However, InDesign not only makes it easier to manage linked graphics but it also lets you do things with these images that XPress does not.
