Chapter 6. Keyboard Shortcuts

One of the most common arguments QuarkXPress users offer for not wanting to switch to InDesign is that they already know so many XPress keyboard shortcuts. However, the great thing about InDesign is that you can take all of your favorite shortcuts with you, get rid of the ones you don't like, change others and then add some more of your own. In short, with InDesign you can make keyboard shortcuts work for you. InDesign eliminates a common frustration for Photoshop and Illustrator users: the need to use one set of key commands in these programs but another set of commands while in QuarkXPress.

The ability to change keyboard shortcuts is great for you, but causes a problem for authors like us because we don't know if or how you changed your keyboard shortcuts. So the keyboard shortcuts we list in this book are all based on the default shortcuts that ship with InDesign. If you change them, you're on your own!
