Chapter 86. Overprinting Color As in QuarkXPress, you can specify that an object should overprint objects behind it, instead of knocking them out (completely replacing underlying inks) when you print color separations. By default, both XPress and InDesign overprint anything colored solid black. If, for some really weird reason, you prefer black not overprint, you have the option of turning this feature off in the General panel of Preferences.
