Chapter 92. Packaging a Document for Print

Packaging is usually the next stage of preparing a document for print after preflighting. It is the equivalent of QuarkXPress's Collect for Output function. Packaging gathers together a copy of the publication, its associated graphics and fonts, and a report about the document for sending to a service provider or anyone else to whom you may be handing off your document.

You can package a document in one of two ways. If you have already performed a preflight (see Chapter 91), just click the Package button in the Preflight dialog box. Or, you can choose Package from the File menu (or press Command-Option-Shift-P/Ctrl-Alt-Shift-P), which automatically preflights the document before packaging. Either way, InDesign always requires you to save the document before proceeding with the packaging.
